Welcome DE Shipmates
and
All Family and Friends of
DE Shipmates

This site is intended as an information source of those and about those who served on DEs (destroyer escorts) at any time from World War II through their demise. Our name comes from EsCORT DIVision 53, the official U.S. Navy WW II designation of the division containing the six ships, DE 745 through 750.

However, If you ever served in "the Tin Can Navy" you are a member.

On this site an attempt has been made to archive some of the history of individual ships, provide space for interesting personal stories of DE experiences, provide a roster of shipmates, many who have been lost to each other for years, provide a respository of newsletters so new members can update themselves about what occurred before they joined, provide information about reunions, and to provide the family and friends of former shipmates information about what their loved one had experienced earlier in their life.
